Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana caused a massive stir in Uganda this week, when hundreds of fans wanted to get their eyes on the player.

As Zimbabwe does not have a stadium that meets CAF and FIFA stadium requirements, the match was played at the Mandela National Stadium in Uganda.

Onana had to leave the stadium separately from the rest of his teammates after keeping Cameroon's clean sheet, and was picked up by a private car that dropped him off at the airport after rescuing him from crowds of star-struck supporters.

Juma Ssemazzi, the driver who rescued the United star, revealed that his trip had been pre-arranged, but he did not know it would be Onana he was picking up.

"This car belonged to the Cameroon delegation," Ssemazzi told Ugandan outlet Kawowo Sports.

"I was selected by FUFA (the Ugandan FA) to drive Arnold Ebolo, the leader of the Cameroon advance party, who arrived in the country on Saturday.

We left the hotel with everything packed with Namboole reading the programme directly to the airport, but I believed it was just about dropping him [Ebolo] and parking just opposite the team buses.

I was waiting for my boss [Ebolo] when he called and asked me to drive toward the entrance. A barricade was removed to allow the car to approach the buses.

Ebolo came with Onana as I waited there. He told me to drop him off at the airport immediately.

Then Onana asked me: 'Bro, can we get to the airport in 20 minutes?' I told him it was impossible, but we made it in 35 minutes."

He was scheduled to fly with Brussels Airlines at 11 p.m.

During the car trip, Ssemazzi said nothing much, but when we reached Kitooro, he told me: "Bro, you're the best."
