JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA - OCTOBER 11: Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr ,Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki and players during the Kaizer Chiefs Heart on Sleeve CSI Activation at Kaizer Chiefs Village on October 11, 2023 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Kanga Nzenza has opened up about his health struggles following a botched eye surgery at Tembisa Hospital.

Originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Nzenza played for the Phefeni Glamour Boys in the mid-1990s.

"I'm struggling with my eyes, you know. I can't see properly. It's difficult, I'll tell you. I need help," says Nzenza in an interview with KickOff.

Chiefs looming departures before deadline?

"I had an eye problem in 2017, it started with a cataract. When I went to Tembisa Hospital, they operated on my eye and made a mistake. I don't know what the doctor did, but after the operation, I had no sight.

I have been going there for consultation for almost two years now. It's painful. Then he said: No, don't worry. Come every month.

The doctor is only giving me eye drops at that point, and the bleeding eye is now damaging my other eye, and I cannot even see. Only in 2019 did he say he couldn't help me.

As he opens up about his heartbreaking ordeal, Nzenza says, "I need help from the other people.".

According to the former marksman, who had a formidable partnership with Fortune Koloba at Amakhosi, the doctor may have cut a vein during the cataract surgery.

He laments, "I don't know if he was a student doctor, but he did it badly."

Two years later, he told me, 'Eish, my friend, I can't help you. You will never see with this eye again'. That was my left eye. Oh! [sighing]. I was shocked.

The nurses even told me that this man had made a mess to many people. I am trying to get help from others. They have urged me to take him to court. The doctor has been making a mess to many people's lives for years. How can he still be employed there? Since 2017, when I underwent the operation, I have been suffering," he explains.

In order to ease his plight, Nzenza is honest enough to admit he needs all the help he can get.

The doctor broke me. I cannot further my coaching career. I was already coaching left and right when he wrecked my life. I would be relieved if I received help.

I am having a terrible time. I can't see anything, I don't have eyes to see. I feel relieved when I talk to you.

I need donations to save the other eye because, at the moment, it can only see shadows when people pass by. I can't even watch Kaizer Chiefs play. I can't even walk alone."

The only time I thought about girlfriends was after friends took me to Soweto

My life was destroyed by this doctor. I believe Kaizer Motaung Jr.'s foundation can help at least the right side eye. But I don't know how to reach him or Kaizer Chiefs.

I'd appreciate it if someone could help me read my Bible again since I'm a preacher.

"I would not have gone to that hospital if I knew."
