Argentine goalkeeper Oscar Ustari has now signed for Lionel Messi's Inter Miami, marking a reunion with the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner for the first time since winning a gold medal together at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The Argentine superstar Lionel Messi has reunited with another former Inter Miami teammate.

Oscar Ustari has been signed by Inter Miami for the remainder of the 2024 Major League Soccer season.

During the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Ustari played alongside the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner for Argentina alongside Messi.

Inter Miami's chief soccer officer and sporting director Chris Henderson said in an official statement on the club's website that the club is pleased to add a player like Oscar to its goalkeeping group.

Cole Jensen will gain professional experience with Inter Miami CF II in MLS NEXT Pro, while CJ dos Santos is currently recovering from an injury."

Ustari, who joined Inter Miami as a free agent after leaving Chilean club Audax Italiano in July, said: "I'm grateful for the opportunity to be part of this fantastic club.".

It is also a joy to reunite with Leo [Messi] in the locker room and on the field again after such a long time. I am willing to help the team at all times, wherever I am needed, in order to achieve both our collective and personal goals."

Since Messi joined the MLS club in July 2023 following a stint at Paris Saint-Germain, reuniting with his former colleagues has become a bit of a trend.

Former FC Barcelona trio Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Luis Suarez have joined the David Beckham-co-owned club since then.

At the Beijing Olympics, Ustari played in three of Argentina's four matches, where the young Albiceleste won gold.
