The Royal AM coach John Maduka is in the unenviable position of being unable to register any new players for the 2024/25 season.

Due to unpaid salaries to Serbian striker Samir Nurkovic, FIFA has banned Royal AM from signing players.

KwaZulu-Natal-based team failed to register new players for its two DStv Diski Challenge matches this season.

At the Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday, Thwihli Thwahla will open their Betway Premiership campaign against Cape Town City.

Before the season began, Menzi Masuku and Thato Lingwati had already left the side.

In the meantime, Masuku has signed with Golden Arrows, where he will be playing football this season.

Maduka wanted to improve their goal-scoring ratio this season by signing a striker.

Maduka admits as much to KickOff, "it has affected us.".

“As a coach, like any other team, I would like to reinforce the team somewhere, somehow. You will need a striker who will score for you. You will need a midfielder who will play an important role. You will need a defender who will help the youngsters and the team to succeed.

It's a blessing in disguise for others to take advantage of the opportunity and move the team forward," said the ex-Malawian international.

The Royal AM management team has since recalled Sinky Mnisi for 2024/25.

At the beleaguered company, the charismatic but controversial administrator has taken on the role of Chief Operating Officer.
