Nicolas Dupuis hailed Bafana Bafana as "one of the best in Africa" after South Sudan's late defeat by South Africa.
In a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Tuesday afternoon, South Africa won 3-2 thanks to a double from Oswin Appollis and a goal by Thalente Mbatha in the 95th minute.
South Africa moved up to second place in the group after their 2-2 draw with Uganda on Friday, who are currently in first position.
In the aftermath of his team's loss to Hugo Broos and his side, Dupuis expressed pride in his players and praised the opposition's level.
"I am very proud of my players today because it was South Africa. They are excellent players. It is an excellent team," said the head coach.
In fact, they are one of the best in Africa. I'm very proud of them.
In the first half, [Rashid Thomas] Okocha and Loki [Emmanuel] always had to defend one against two.

Dupuis highlighted the Brights Stars' previous stoppage-time goal against Sudan in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier earlier this year as a problem.
During extra-time, we have a problem because they scored at 46 minutes and 95 minutes," said the French tactician.
"We have to work on the spirit. We have to work not just in 90 minutes or 45 minutes, but the entire game, because against Sudan it was 46 minutes, against South Africa it was 46 and 95."
Despite conceding so late in the game, the former Madagascar manager expressed pride in his team.
He concluded, "I'm very proud of them. Even if they make a mistake, it's not bad. They were very good, the three players in central defense."
