It was Deshi Bhaktawer who was the best for me. He played like a central sweeper, just as modern goalkeepers do now, back in the eighties. You need a confident goalkeeper behind you.

The defenders are Mark Seligman, Trevor Klein, John Salter, and Dave Bukowski.

"Mark was a defender's defender. He wasn't into the attack. He was a solid defender. I see Trevor Klein as a left-back. Me and him used to terrorize Orlando Pirates, Sundowns, and Chiefs defenders.

"John Salter and Dave Bukowski were hard-working English defenders who scared the living daylights out of African players."

Dylan Kerr, Sammy Troughton, Paddy Hall, and Robbie de Graaf are the midfielders.

"I'm on the left, as a winger. Sammy Troughton, Robbie de Graaf, and Paddy Hall are also on the left.

"Robbie de Graaf was a workhorse; he was always running; Paddy Hall was an attacking midfielder; he was very tough, a very difficult player to play against.

Troughton held that midfield and let Robbie do all the running. He played simple football."

Noel Cousins and Trevor Poole are the strikers.

The combination was electrifying; defenders hated to play against them. They knew how to time their delivery from the left, which was from me [laughs]. We always scored."

Stan Laporte is the coach.

Stan Laporte was the only person who could handle such a team. He took no crap, didn't take any bull, was a disciplinarian, and got his players to work for him."
