Nigeria caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen has vowed to address Stanley Nwabali's time-wasting habit.

The interim coach of Nigeria has vowed to address Stanley Nwabali's infamous habit.

Since becoming the Super Eagles' first-choice goalkeeper, the shot-stopper appears to have earned an unwanted reputation for time-wasting.

During the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final earlier this year, the 28-year-old was also booked for time-wasting during his national team's match against Ivory Coast.

In a 2025 AFCON qualifier on Tuesday, the Super Eagles' 'keeper was once again accused of time-wasting.

During a post-match press conference, Nigeria's caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen insisted that discussions with Nwabali would take place to resolve the issue.

It's something we need to discuss, and we all know he's one of the best goalkeepers in Africa right now," Eguavoen said.

Officials can also become irritated and start adding more time.

It's not a game plan. I told you before, we are here to get three points, so delaying such balls isn't a good idea.

We will discuss this internally; such things will not occur in the future."
