As the other 15 top-flight clubs seek to topple champions Mamelodi Sundowns, watch all 240 matches live on SuperSport during the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season.

SuperSport.com brings you the A-Z of the campaign ahead of kick-off!

A - AmaZulu recorded the most draws in the Betway Premiership last season with 12 out of 30 games. That means in the last two campaigns they have drawn 29 out of 60 matches, just below 50%.

There will be no mid-season break in the upcoming season, which is unusual for recent years. The final games of 2024 will be on December 29 and the first games of 2025 will be on January 3. Long gone are the days of Christmas and New Year's rests.

It was Lucas Ribeiro Costa who led Mamelodi Sundowns in scoring, eclipsing even the great Peter Shalulile. Who will win the race to be Chloorkop's top scorer?

In the 2023/24 season, there were 68 goalless draws. Let's hope for fewer in this campaign.

A squad refresh was needed after Cape Town City appeared to be challenging for second place last season, but slipped away badly in the second half of the season. Eric Tinkler has undertaken a rebuilding process with no less than 11 new faces joining the club.

F – As many sides strive to build momentum quickly, early season form will be crucial. Especially at the bottom of the table, a bad start can lead to a hard season. Conversely, positive results can be a tonic at the start of the campaign.

There were 488 goals scored across 240 games in the Betway Premiership last season, not the lowest on record, but close. The all-time low is 479 goals scored in 2021-22.

It will be Gavin Hunt's 27th consecutive season coaching in the Premiership and he will complete 1000 games as a coach in the top flight.

- Mamelodi Sundowns missed out on an 'Invincibles' season in the last campaign after losing to Cape Town City on the final day. Can they do it again in 2024/25?

In his second season with Orlando Pirates, former Buccaneers coach Jose Riveiro starts his third season. He has won four cups and led the team to the Champions League in both seasons, but the ultimate prize remains the league.

K – Kaizer Chiefs finished a harrowing 10th place for their fans last season after winning just nine of their 30 games. While there is no quick fix for their fortunes, they have made some interesting signings in this transfer window under the new coach Nasreddine Nabi.

With a CAF Confederation Cup campaign and a return to Sekhukhune United, Lehlohonolo Seema has his work cut out.

Can Mamelodi Sundowns go eight in a row? They have been dominating in terms of wins and points with each passing season, so it would take a serious drop-off in form for anyone to compete.

Despite the fact that Nasreddine Nabi has emerged as the big hope at Naturena, all eyes will be on him to see if he can restore the team's competitiveness. Despite his success elsewhere on the continent, the South African league is a tough environment, as many top coaches have discovered in the past.

The Pirates have finished runners-up in the last two seasons, but were 23 points behind champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the previous season. Can they close the gap, or even surpass the Brazilians?

Polokwane City scored 21 goals in 30 games last season, but still finished in the top eight. They were involved in eight 0-0 draws.

Q – Royal AM are still under a Fifa suspension and have been unable to sign players, leaving the big question of whether this will be another season of hardship. Additionally, they have lost Menzi Masuku and Shaune Mogaila, adding to the coach's worries.

Richards Bay have struggled in the last two seasons and only managed to survive through the promotion/relegation playoffs. But with a new sponsor, plenty of fresh signings and Brandon Truter now in charge, can they compete for the top half?

Last season, Stellenbosch FC had their best-ever third-place finish. They have lost some key players, but can they get at least second, which they missed last year on goal-difference.

- Tshegofatso Mabasa won the Golden Boot last season with 16 strikes, six for Moroak Swallows and 10 for Orlando Pirates. Will he top the charts again?
