'We expect a very difficult game,' said the Bafana head coach.
At the Juba Stadium on Tuesday, Bafana Bafana will take on South Sudan in a Group K 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier (kick off 3pm). Coach Hugo Broos expects a difficult match against a strong opponent.
“We will have tough game tomorrow,” Broos told the pre-match press conference in Juba on Monday. “We watched them against Togo, Sudan and Congo and know they are aggressive.
The team is very dedicated. And the game will be played on a synthetic pitch, which is not what we are used to. We expect a very challenging contest."
After a disappointing 2-2 draw against Uganda in their first qualifier on Friday, Bafana are even more determined to secure three points. As coach Broos pointed out, it's impossible to predict the outcome of any game, whether it's against South Sudan, Nigeria, or any other team. While the match against Uganda was challenging, Bafana should have come out with a victory. Despite a mistake from our goalkeeper leading to their second goal, we had multiple opportunities to score ourselves. We're ready to face whatever challenges may come and will strive for another win.
It's hot out there
The temperature in Juba is expected to be around 35 degrees centigrade tomorrow afternoon, so Broos is confident his team will cope with it.
Broos added, "The weather is the weather, we can't change it.".
In the Ivory Coast (at this year's AFCON finals), we played against Mali and Tunisia in hot weather as well.
The number of changes Broos will make to his team after the Uganda game remains to be seen. After Veli Mothwa's mistake against Uganda, the Bafana coach said his team wasn't sharp enough against the Cranes, so his place must be under threat.
