Lehlohonolo Majoro has called on Kaizer Chiefs to emulate Mamelodi Sundowns' success under Pitso Mosimane.
As the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season approaches, Chiefs are embarking on a new chapter under coach Nasreddine Nabi. The Tunisian tactician has been tasked with leading the Soweto giants back to their glory days, something they have not achieved since the 90s.
Mamelodi Sundowns also faced a similar situation before Pitso Mosimane took over from Johan Neeskens in December 2012. Mosimane quickly turned the club's fortunes around, winning their first title in 2013/14.
Despite Mosimane's departure in 2020, Sundowns continue to dominate the South African football landscape, winning seven consecutive Betway Premiership titles.
MAJORO ON HOW CHIEFS SHOULD EMULATE SUNDOWNS ON PITSO MOSIMANE APPOINTMENT
Coach Nabi should be allowed to settle in and build his team with the players he needs. After a few seasons at the club, he will start delivering.
Sundowns went through a building phase under Pitso Mosimane; it took him one and a half seasons before Sundowns became the Sundowns we know today.
In football, there is no shortcut. You need a coach who will be with you for a certain amount of time.
By doing so, the coach can assemble the team that will compete and acquire players in the positions that are lacking.
I expect a bit of change with the players they have signed. I understand that supporters expect instant results. We want Kaizer Chiefs to return to their glory days.
