Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr has admitted that he feels in some instances the Soweto giants are quoted bigger transfer fees because of their name and status.

In addition to bringing in six new players, Amakhosi have also missed out on Khanyisa Mayo and Elias Mokwena, despite submitting offers, Kaizer Jr. confirmed.

Asanele Velebayi was also on their wishlist, but they couldn't agree on Cape Town Spurs' valuation - at least for now. Several Amakhosi fans believe Chiefs have been quoted higher fees than other clubs.

In response to Thabiso Mosia's question on Radio2000, he said, "It is true.".

"At the end of the day, it's just business. Everyone has to place a value on what they think a product is worth, if I may.

We want to develop good relationships with all the PSL teams, not just pay for things. It's for us, navigating the best way we can.

Our goal in football is always to enhance the game, whether it is our opponents or ourselves. We want a strong league, we want a strong product for the PSL. It's very vital for the economy.

But sometimes, they won't want to strengthen Kaizer Chiefs, it's just like that.

I've highlighted in the past how important recruitment is, and I think we're heading in the right direction by bringing Tera into our recruitment department."

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa has been offered to Stellenbosch FC, while AmaZulu were looking at a potential swap deal but couldn’t agree on term as his future at the club hangs in the balance.

Mthethwa moved from Stellenbosch to Naturena in September 2023 after an outstanding season with the Cape Winelands side, earning a spot in the Bafana Bafana squad.

In September 2023, Mthethwa made the biggest move of his career from Stellenbosch to Naturena after an outstanding season with the Cape Winelands side, earning a nod for Bafana Bafana.

In Chiefs' dreadful 2023/24 campaign, where they finished outside the top eight, the 30-year-old made 20 appearances, but has struggled to establish himself in Gauteng.

Based on information gathered by this publication, Mthethwa has been offered a season-long loan by his former side Stellies, but has been rejected by the Cape Winelands club. It is believed that Amakhosi have also held talks with AmaZulu FC about a potential swap deal, but neither party could come to a decision.

Mthethwa was deployed in an unfamiliar role by head coach Nasreddine Nabi in a friendly against AmaTuks last Wednesday. He started off in midfield with Samkelo Zwane, but was then moved to centre-back, with Njabulo Blom replacing Zwane.

The pairing of Blom and Zwane continued where they left off, with Edson Castillo and Yusuf Maart replacing them later in the friendly match against SuperSport United.
