The Pirates midfielder bangs in a stoppage-time winner for his second goal at the death in four days.
In stoppage time, Thalente Mbatha netted again for Bafana Bafana in a 3-2 Group K win over South Sudan at Juba Stadium on Tuesday, as Hugo Broos' side started their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
The 24 year old Orlando Pirates midfielder came off the bench and fired home the ball from the edge of the area to give Bafana all three points, leaving the home side utterly despondent. Bafana drew 2-2 with Uganda at Orlando Stadium on Friday as Mbatha scored an equaliser in stoppage time for the second time in four days.
As a result of Veli Mothwa's mistake against the Cranes, Broos replaced him with Orlando Pirates' Sipho Chaine.
In the right wing, Thapelo Morena, who scored two goals against Zimbabwe in June, was preferred over Elias Mokwana.
From the start, Bafana took the game to the home side, with Teboho Mokoena putting a shot just wide of the target.
After bursting into the area, Morena failed to find a teammate after South Sudan goalkeeper Majak Mawith threw the ball straight to him.
It got tricky for Bafana in the 13th minute when striker Tito Okello burst through the South African defence and was pulled back by Siyabonga Ngezana.
Okello fired the spot kick past Chaine after the first contact looked outside the penalty area.
Bafana bounce back
In just a few minutes, Bafana rallied and were level again. Aubrey Modiba was getting forward well, finding Appollis, who curled a fine finish into the corner.
In the 28th minute, Appollis turned creator, providing a brilliant cross for Lyle Foster, but the Burnley striker headed straight at Mawith.
