Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi is a man in search of players. Thulani Mabaso has reportedly joined the first team.

Coach Nasreddine Nabi is clearly looking for a midfielder for the upcoming season. A second midfielder from the reserve team is reportedly training with the first team.

THLANI MABSASO AND THE KAIZER CHIEFS FIRST TEAM

In the wake of Sinethemba Sithebe's departure in pre-season, Amakhosi had five midfielders available: Yusuf Maart, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Edson Castillo, Samkelo Zwane and Sabelo Radebe. Manqoba Ozoemena was called from the reserve team for assessment since coach Nabi was not interested in Mthethwa and Castillo.

The club has yet to identify a target to sign, but it has just been revealed that another academy player, Thulani "Touch" Mabasa, has started training with the senior team.

As reported by SuperSport TV's Karabo Selebalo Phasha, the 20-year-old Mabaso has even played a friendly match.

"I understand Kaizer Chiefs DDC midfielder Thulani "Touch" Mabaso has been invited to train with the first team on a couple of occasions," Phasha said.

According to the report, the team "played a friendly a few days ago and did fairly well.".

OSWIN APPOLLIS TO BE ANNOUNCED BY MC ALGER

There is bad news for Kaizer Chiefs. Algerian giants MC Alger have reportedly won the race to sign Polokwane City's Oswin Appollis.

In the final phase of last season, Amakhosi targeted Bafana Bafana winger Appollis, but Polokwane refused to sell him.

MC Alger have won the race to sign Appollis ahead of Kaizer Chiefs, according to FARPost.

After protracted negotiations, Polokwane City FC have agreed to sell Oswin Appollis to Algerian giants MC Alger.

For the Polokwane City star, the reigning Algerian champions are in pole position, beating competition from top clubs across Africa and domestically.

After the clubs sign a transfer agreement, the player must agree to personal terms.

“The personal terms are expected to proceed smoothly, given that the more challenging hurdle of convincing Rise and Shine to let go of their star player has already been overcome. A routine medical will then be conducted,” the report said.

THE KAIZER CHIEFS MISSED OUT ON KHANYISA MAYO

Khanyisa Mayo's deal with Amakhosi fell through by seconds. Chiefs supporters may take this hard.

Unfortunately for Amakhosi, Algerian giants CR Belouizdad moved faster than Kaizer Chiefs to sign Khanyisa Mayo.

The 25-year-old striker from Umtata signed for the Algerian giants from Cape Town City on a R20 million deal, according to reports.

In an interview with the media on Monday, Mayo's agent, Basia Michaels, revealed how Kaizer Chiefs missed out on the player they had been targeting for over two seasons.

Amakhosi sent their offer to sign Mayo a few seconds too late, according to Michaels.

'I think Chiefs fell short because they were seconds too late from the offer from CRB,' Mayo's agent Basia Michaels told Metro FM.
