This week's Bafana camp has been a little muddled.

Hugo Broos - Bafana Bafana

Hugo Broos' tenure as Bafana Bafana head coach has been marked by clarity of communication.

Whether it's the lack of a break ahead of this year's Africa Cup of Nations, or the way PSL clubs are releasing their players (see this year's Cosafa Cup), he will express it directly.

Tell-it-how-it-is

Despite his 72 years of age, the 72-year-old Belgian has a tell-it-like-it-is attitude you don't always see.

Ahead of Bafana's 2-2 draw with Uganda in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Group K, the coach highlighted the lack of club football for many of his players.

Until September 14, any team that did not finish in last season's top eight had not played a single game.

Moreover, Broos was concerned about Mamelodi Sundowns, whose players had only participated in the MTN8, and who had looked unconvincing in the semifinals.

Prior to the 2-2 draw with Uganda in Group K of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification, Bafana coach highlighted the lack of club football available to many of his players.

Because the Betway Premiership doesn't kick off until September 14, any team that didn't finish in last season's top eight hadn't played a single game until this week.

Mamelodi Sundowns, whose players had only participated in the MTN8, looked unconvincing as they lost to Stellenbosch in the semifinals.
