As Mamelodi Sundowns prepare for the CAF Champions League and Betway Premiership, they still have registration decisions to make.
In between two Champions League legs with Mbabane Swallows in Tshwane, Sundowns have a midweek league derby against SuperSport United.
Their season will be defined by two competitions for which they must frequently field their best teams and still have strong bench options.
Should Sundowns reach the final in May next year, the two competitions will carry the value of 44 games.
Thus, the issue of the foreign quota at the club arises.
As a result of the departures of Abdelmounaim Boutouil (Morocco) and Junior Mendieta and Matias Esquivel (Argentina), the club has three new foreign quota spaces.
With Marcelo Allende (Chile) and Lucas Ribeiro Costa (Brazil) holding on to their places from last season, Arthur de Oliviera Sales has taken up one spot.
It should be simple to fill the two remaining spaces with Ethiopian striker Abubeker Nasir and Bolivian midfielder Erwin Saavedra.
Considering the circumstances of the two players, who have both suffered from injuries, this hasn't been the case.
After playing only 72 minutes last season, Nasir was de-registered halfway through last season due to injury issues. He has yet to play any official minutes this year for either club or country.
Although he still has a contract at Sundowns, his injury concerns have been so sensitive that, despite being called up to the national team, he did not travel due to his unfitness.
As a result, his registration status remains 'pending'.
Following his loan to former employers Club Bolivar, Saavedra has returned to Chloorkp
Despite having injury-related issues in the past, he played 13 matches while back home and even made the national team again.
Sundowns must decide how to proceed with the pair's registration.
