Preview: South Sudan vs. South Africa - prediction, team news, lineups
Taking place at the Juba Stadium on Tuesday, South Sudan and South Africa will battle for three crucial points in Group K of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Neither team won their opening matches, so they will both be eager to get back to winning ways.
In a Friday evening showdown at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, South Africa managed to salvage a point in their match against Uganda. The game ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw after Lyle Foster put the home team ahead early on, only for quick goals from Denis Omedi and Rogers Mato Kassim to turn things around. However, Thalente Mbatha's late equaliser saved the day for Hugo Broos's men with virtually the last kick. Despite being favored by many to come out on top in this qualifying group, Bafana Bafana's performance fell short of expectations, disappointing fans of the former African champions. Mbatha's goal also extended their unbeaten streak to nine games since their loss in the AFCON semi-finals back in February. Nevertheless, it should be noted that South Africa has not been able to secure a victory on hostile territory during competitive matches since March 2023 when they narrowly beat Liberia 2-1.
