Deshi "Al Die Hoekies" Bhaktawer wishes to see Veli Mothwa back between the sticks when Bafana Bafana play South Sudan on Tuesday.

Despite a 1-0 deficit, the AmaZulu FC goalkeeper conceded two quick goals in the second half of Friday's opening qualifier at Orlando Stadium.

South Africa salvaged a point with Thalente Mbatha's injury-time equalizer.

Bhaktawer tells KickOff, "In the second goal, I believe his starting position was a bit off. Not wrong per se, but when the shot came in, he was backpedaling."

The action alone causes you to lose your bearings. Because he didn't seem to see the ball, and he almost ducked out of the way.

"I just think it was 'on the feet', and the shot came in so unexpectedly, from a long way out, and his feet got mixed up a little bit."

Originally, he was on the edge of the box or a little bit forward. Uganda broke away, and he needed to back up to find his position, but the shot came much faster than he expected.

He continues, "I don't think many of us would have expected the shot to come from such a distance."

Bhaktawer explains why coach Hugo Broos should start Mothwa again in the next game.

There will always be mistakes made by goalkeepers, and good players do not become bad overnight.

It is from mistakes that we learn, and the fact that he's playing at that level indicates there is talent in Veli Mothwa.

So if I were the coach, I would keep him. Putting him on the bench won't be a good move. It was a mistake. Goalkeepers make mistakes all the time, and it's gonna continue.

It all depends on how you handle it. I'd speak to him on Monday morning and see how he feels.

If he lacks confidence, I can maybe work with him on that side for the next day or two. It's entirely up to him."
