Kaizer Chiefs DStv Diski Challenge coach Dillon Sheppard explained how he mastered the comeback win against Chippa United after going one man down.
In the 23rd minute, Amakhosi fell behind to Luzuko Ngqina's goal, but Ntandoyenkosi Nkosi levelled the score in the 62nd minute. On the stroke of halftime, Vicky Mkhwana was sent off, but Pheko Phago scored the game-winning goal in the 76th minute.
Sheppard explained after the game how he masterminded his team's comeback and how happy he is to see the boys make it two wins in a row.
After the match, Sheppard said, "We have to relax.".
Let's take emotions out of it. We have to be calm and then fix the shape, since we are down one man.
"We started with a back four, we played with Ntando [Ntandoyenkosi Nkosi] who has huge experience at the DDC level, then we went with a front three after that.
There can be no plan if the players don't show desire, hunger, and the willingness to compete, and that's exactly what they did.
"You create chances and then you score goals. It was a good win for the boys, they showed character today."
The Chiefs are ranked second behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
