During the latest FIFA break, Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile has faced different responsibilities than those he normally deals with at Chloorkop.
Shelulile is back in the Namibian squad for the AFCON qualifiers, which started with a defeat to Cameroon and continue against Kenya on Tuesday at Orlando Stadium (18:00).
Due to the lack of CAF-approved stadiums back home, Namibians continue to use Soweto as their adopted home.
Shalulile last played for the Brace Warriors at the AFCON finals in January, where they placed 16th.
He knows that this is his home, and he knows that he can be himself here," says Collin Benjamin, Namibia's coach, when asked about Shalulile's return.
He has a different role here, leading these boys.
He is an example and a role model on and off the field.
In addition, he is also the guy who gives and oozes confidence for the young boys to feed off of.
"He is definitely just like any other professional outside Namibia.
There is the small Prins Tjiueza saying, I'm here, and I want to contribute to the team, and Deon Hotto is doing the drill. Riaan Hanamub has grown tremendously as well.
It's all for the good of the team in terms of atmosphere and harmony, and they're playing their roles well," says Benjamin.
Despite playing three games for Sundowns this season, Shalulile is yet to score a goal.
