'I think for next Tuesday we have to review things a bit,' said Bafana head coach Hugo Broos.
A number of changes could be made by Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos for Tuesday's 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match.
Thalente Mbatha's stoppage time goal spared Bafana the embarrassment of a home defeat against Uganda on Friday.
Bafana’s Broos – ‘We have to review things a bit’
“I think for next Tuesday we need to review things. We need to see what we can do to have a sharper team on the pitch,” said the Bafana head coach after Friday's match.
Broos suggested afterwards that he may use players who are more match-ready against South Sudan in Juba despite a disappointing 2-2 draw.
In the build-up to Uganda, Broos expressed concern that some players in his squad would not get enough game time.
Despite saying his concerns had been addressed the day before the game, the Bafana coach brought them up again after the Uganda match.
Lyle Foster gave Bafana an early lead in Orlando, and they looked set for a routine victory.
‘We were not sharp enough’
The Cranes almost pulled off a stunning upset in the second half.
After leaving the dressing room (for the second half), you could see we were not sharp enough, and within two minutes we were down 2-1. However, the changes in the team and our reaction made us come back and earn a point," Broos concluded.
Hugo Broos introduced Orlando Pirates stars Mbatha and Relebohile Mofokeng after Uganda took a 2-1 lead on Friday.
Mbatha and Mofokeng have already played in the Caf Champions League this season, as well as reaching the MTN8 finals, so it is likely that they will get a chance right away in Juba.
Mothwa's position between the poles may also be in jeopardy, since his error allowed Rogers Mato's effort to slip through his grasp on Friday. Broos, however, defended his decision to field Mothwa, saying he had no regrets.
