Anthony Elanga has spoken to Alexander Isak about a Newcastle move after a late Deadline Day deal fell through.
In the final week of the summer window, Newcastle explored a deal for Elanga worth at least £35m, but Forest rejected it.
When he was on international duty, Elanga told Swedish outlet Fotbol Skanalen: "The environment in Nottingham is good. It's obvious that Newcastle are interested, which means I'm playing well."
I am happy and have a contract with Nottingham, even though they have won two Champions Leagues before I was born.
I'm focusing on Nottingham and hoping to have a good season, then we'll see what happens.
Isak talked to me about it. I told him the same thing I told you. We have a good relationship and good chemistry when we play together. However, I have a contract with Nottingham."
