Ipswich have announced that former Scotland manager George Burley is undergoing cancer treatment.
He played 500 games for Ipswich as a player and managed 413 games as a manager, more than anyone else in the club's history.
Sir Bobby Robson's former defender, who won 11 caps for Scotland and managed the country between 2008 and 2009, helped Town win both the 1978 FA Cup and 1981 UEFA Cup.
"After feeling unwell earlier this year, I recently received a diagnosis and am taking positive steps to fight it," Burley said in a statement released by Ipswich.
It's been a difficult time, but I'm feeling much better now.
As a matter of fact, I am able to attend matches at Portman Road and I am enjoying watching the team play back in the Premier League.
"I would like to thank the club for the support they have shown me and my family and ask that everyone respect our privacy at this time."
